Joris likes information. He absorbs it, filters it to the essence, and transcribes it into the correct form that clearly communicates a message or emotion to the recipient. He does this as abstractly as possible, but clearly and preferably withmathematical correctness. In his designs, logic, precision and ratio are important values, and he aims at truth and exactness in concept, shape, meaning and production methods.

The inefficient use of material by the lasercutting machine at Alessi inspired him to find a way to reduce the amount of scrap material produced. Based on the use of the hexagon, the shapes fit together perfectly and produce a minimum amount of waste. The hand-shape form refers to its character as a joint and to its use as a household object. This object belongs in a mathematical wonderland of digits, graphics, pictographs, coordinates and formulas.
